GRSC DAY CAMP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q: Does my child need to be interested in tennis to attend GRSC Day Camp?
A: Absolutely not! The campers will play some fun racquets games during their time at camp!

Q: How do I register my child for camp?
A: 
 Please email the Camp Director, to answer questions, receive and return paperwork (mostly done online) and complete billing with our billing office. 

Q: What does my child bring to camp?
A: Please send your child DAILY to camp with the following: 

  • Sunscreen
  • Towel
  • Bathing suit (they may wear it under their clothes if they would like) 
  • NON-GLASS refillable water bottle
  • Lunch
  • Snacks (2 if they are all day kids and 1 if they are morning only)
  • Sneakers. 
  • Tennis racquet (we have racquets your child can buy, if needed) 
  • Swim goggles (if needed/wanted) 
  • Extra change of clothes (if needed/wanted)
Please remember to LABEL EVERYTHING you are sending to camp and that it is spelled correctly! Your child will be in charge of carrying their own bag at camp, so please make sure it is a size that is manageable for them.

Q: What does a typical day look like at GRSC Day Camp?
A:  Activity schedules are rotating during the week. Therefore, your child may not have every activity every day, and most likely will not have the same activity at the same time each day. The following activities will be part of their session at camp: organized games/activities, sports (Gaga Ball, Four Square, Kickball, etc.), racquets fun (games using the equipment and courts for tennis, pickleball and paddle), water play, lunch/playground time, supervised free swim, D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) and arts and crafts.


Q: How are the camp groups separated?
A: When weeks allow for it we separate our kids into several age groups. The younger group ranging anywhere from 4-7 years old, the middle group ranging anywhere from 6-8 years old, and the oldest group ranging from 9-12 years old.


Q: What if I need to pick my child up early or drop off late?
A: If you know ahead of time you can let your child’s counselor know about the change in schedule. If the change is last minute you can contact the Camp Director.


Q: Is my child allowed to go to the snack bar during the day with money to purchase snacks?
A: No. Beyond lunch, we ask that any snacks they will have are provided from home.

Q: Where is GRSC Day Camp and where do its activities take place?
A: We are located and all camp activities take place at 420 Church Street in Guilford, on the Guilford Racquet & Swim Club grounds, across the street from the Arts Center and next to the Police station.
