Adult Racquet Sports
We offer tennis as a chance for adults to get fit and have fun while doing so. At GRSC, we make it easy for individuals to get involved, improve their skills, and make friends. There are no indoor court fees from mid-June through Labor Day. Also, there are no court fees outdoors year-round.
For general information about adult tennis or to set up a complimentary hitting session, please email Chris Marra at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PLAY & SOCIALIZE
It’s not just the kids who are allowed to have fun! At Guilford Racquet and Swim Club, we offer a chance to get fit, improve your racquet skills and make friends with an array of racquet sport choices. From friendly tennis matches to friendly paddle and competitive pickleball, you can have fun while breaking a sweat on our courts.
Summer Tennis – Weekly Offerings
If you’re in or around Guilford, CT please stop in to learn more! When you step into our club, you’ll see members in the lobby gearing up for their group lessons or organized play. There’s always something going on at the club. Meet new friends over coffee, snacks, and a match.
Weekly options often include beginner lessons (“TennisNow” – for people who have never picked up a racquet and “TennisNext” – for graduates of TennisNow). We also offer California Point Play, otherwise known as “CAPP”, (a description of CAPP can be found below), Singles and Doubles Clinics, Cardio Tennis, Pickleball, and Paddle. These are available to members and non-members to try us out. If you’re unsure which class is appropriate for you, make an appointment to have one of our amazing pros hit with you to determine your level.
If you are interested in learning on your own, we offer private lessons. Private lessons are taught by our full-time PTR/USPTA certified pros who are always available to accelerate your improvement.
$105 per hour + $10 per person hourly charge
$135 per hour + $12 per person hourly charge
Adult Private Lesson Groups (PLGs)
Our full-time PTR/USPTA certified pros teach adult private group lessons (aka Adult Clinics). The group lessons build on skills, use drills, and conduct supervised match play to hone your game. Our group lesson plans aim to create a well-rounded player with solid strokes, technique, footwork and court understanding.
Weekly CAPP Offerings
California Point Play (CAPP) is a fast-paced doubles style game, with balls fed into play by a pro, usually with 6 people on the court. You switch partners every 15 minutes and get points for winners or 3 points in a row won at the net. It’s fast, fun and easy to learn. CAPP is one of our most popular classes and members will have priority over non-members. You can use our GRSC app to register.
Adult Match Play
We offer in-house leagues, organized round robins and ladder play. We have USTA teams for men, women and mixed at different levels for those seeking more intense competition. Are you interested in USTA? Email our USTA Coordinator, Beth Hall or visit one of the local USTA league websites.
Open Court Time
Open time on the courts is only available to racquet members and guests. It is charged at an hourly rate and divided among the players. We do not charge any open time court fees outside, as long as the nets are up. From June to August, there are no open time court fees inside, including the ball machines.
Open court time can be reserved up to one week in advance by members. It is charged at an hourly rate and divided among the players.
Indoor Court Fees: September – May

No Court Fees All Summer!
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in America, played with solid paddles and wiffle balls. Your first visit is on us, and you can have up to four guest visits (paying only for your court time) to try pickleball. Membership is required to continue play. The net and rules make it very similar to tennis, with a particular scoring system in place.
Private/semi-private lessons are $105 for members and $135 for non-members, plus an additional per person charge.
Lesly Wagner is proud to run the pickleball courts at GRSC. She welcomes all to try this fast-paced sport on the courts and is happy to coordinate match-ups.
Paddle enthusiast Pam Welch organizes our paddle program. We have season courts, league play and clinics. Our competitively experienced paddle experts and PPTA certified pros delight in showing new players this fun sport.
We have 2 paddle courts with lights and heaters for the cold season. We even have Summer paddle! After your time in the cages, enjoy relaxing by the firepit or socializing in our Courtside Cottage.
Our paddle experts are happy to help you learn the ropes of the sport. For members, it is $105 for a one-hour private lesson and $135 for non-members. There is a supplemental charge for each additional person.
If you have a membership, you can access year-round organized paddle leagues and regular weekly play. Season courts are available to members who want to meet on the same day and time each week.
